Newcomers
Settlement Service
Francophone individuals or families who have immigrated to Toronto or who are newcomers to Toronto can receive services that will facilitate their entry into Canadian society and help them get adjusted in their daily lives. The Centre francophone offers a considerable number of services to newcomers, including:
Assistance, interpretation and representation services for dealing with:
- Social services (emergency housing, financial assistance)
- Immigration services
- Government services
- Community services
The counsellors may also offer assistance with filling out immigration forms and provide encouragement and support. The settlement services offer as well credit counselling and budget management. In one-on-one meetings, they can determine each person’s specific services and guide the client to those programs at the Centre that best meet his or her needs. Finally, there is an outreach worker who offers itinerant services.
